Simple 301 Redirects provides an easy method of redirecting requests to another page on your site or elsewhere on the web. It’s especially handy when you migrate a site to WordPress and can’t preserve your URL structure. By setting up 301 redirects from your old pages to your new pages, any incoming links will be seemlessly passed along, and their pagerank (or what-have-you) will be passed along with them.
The redirects work similar to Apache 301 redirects where you specify the path that you want to forward (e.g. /about.htm) and the full URL of the destination (e.g. http://www.sitedomain.com/about/) This means that in addition to forwarding between paths on your site, you can also forward to external sites. So you might also use the plugin as a URL shortener (/video/ could forward to your YouTube channel, for example.) A screenshot is attached.
