Yes, that is a catch-all, defaulting to Free Subscribers.
s2Member can be extended to make this work the way you need it to; it has built-in Hooks/Filters that would make this easy to accomplish. I recommend Elance.com. See if you can find a freelancer to help you out. There are many developers on Elance familiar with s2Member.

I am doing a website for my mom, who is a food rep. She needs different groups of people (buyers, vendors, agents, etc) to be able to register on her website, and be able to see different content. How do I bypass the paypal option all-together? I read the post in which it said to simply direct users to the http://www.example.com/wp-login.php?action=register page, but will doing so allow users to register in the different groups? Or is that just a catch-all registration page?
