Post Access Restrictions not working...

Postby mrarlen » June 30th, 2010, 2:07 am

Hi gang,
I'm a newbie wordpress guy, excited to use s2member on my site.

:?:
I can't seem to get the Posts restricted.

I setup a Membership options Page.
(In wordpress) I changed my home page to the membership options page.
I made the Login WElcome page the "posts page"
I'm allowing free signup (level 0)
Post access restriction at level 0... I have typed "all"
I page access restriced at level 0 the Login Welcome Page and one other page.
I even tagged all my posts with "members-only" and made that a tag restriction.

But with all this, I can see all the posts in categories, archives, and the Login Welcome page.

I even emptied my cache and came back to the page. I still have complete access to the site.

What am I missing?

Thanks!

Hi Arlen. Thanks for writing in. It looks and sounds like your Membership Options Page has not been set in the s2Member General Options panel. s2Member will automatically disable all of its Access Restrictions when there is no Membership Options Page configured ( to prevent endless redirection ). So although you may *have* a Membership Options Page, you'll need to tell s2Member about it.

See: s2Member -> General Options -> Membership Options Page.

If you've done that, and you're still having a problem, please contact me directly with a WP Dashboard login to that site. I'll be happy to have a look for you. http://www.s2member.com/contact/

I'm having the same problem on http://dev.theimaginedlife.com. I've double-checked the setup and I'm as sure as I can be that I've set the Membership Options Page and have restricted access to a page (I've also tried restricting "all" with no luck. I'll PM Jason per his comment above... and if we get it resolved, I promise to follow up for others to review.

Just checking to see if anyone figured out this issue. I'm having the same problem. I have the membership options page set, I have "all" posts require level 1, and you can still access posts through the archive without logging in.

It seems like I'm just missing something, but can't figure it out for the life of me!

Ok, this is a bit embarrassing... I had been testing the links by just popping up a new tab, then browsing to the restricted page. Since the new tab remembers that I'm logged in as an admin, it allows me through to the page. (In other words, admins get access regardless of having a subscription or making payments.)

If I open a different browser, or logout, or go to a different computer, the restrictions are working correctly.
