Defining Custom Capabilties

Postby luisrosario » July 25th, 2010, 11:49 am

Hello, I need some clarification on defining Custom Capabilities. I've searched the forum and read the instructions in my wp-admin, but still feel a bit confused on what defines a custom capability. Is it a category? Is it a tag? How can I use categories as my custom capability when generating my buttons? Thanks.

From what I have understood, custom capabilities are just an abstract concept. They can be whatever you want, because you will have to use conditionals to display contents later on, based on the user capabilities. They could apply to categories, tags or even single posts if you wanted to. Just make sure you protect the content in the restrictions options too.
