Got email from Paypal, Have no clue. That's why I ask you :)

Hi

I own pro version, but haven't used it yet.

I wanna thank you for an awesome support from Primo Themes

My site: gapzip.com

Latest S2member
Latest Wordpress

Everything worked perfect (after moved from godaddy).

Now I got this email from paypal:

Hello xxxxxxxxxxx,

Please check your server that handles PayPal Instant Payment Notifications
(IPN). IPNs sent to the following URL(s) are failing:

http://gapzip.com/index.php/register/Thanks

If you do not recognize this URL, you may be using a service provider that
is using IPN on your behalf. Please contact your service provider with the
above information. If this problem continues, IPNs may be disabled for your
account.

Thank you for your prompt attention to this issue.

Thanks,

PayPal

I have no idea what he's talking about.

Can you explain it to me?

Much appreciated

That URL seems incorrect, which is why PayPal is contacting you, because it's not the s2Member URL that'll respond to the IPN properly. You can find the correct one here WP Admin -> s2Member -> PayPal Options -> PayPal IPN Integration.

I hope that helps. :)

Thank you very much

what should I tell paypal then?

And why would paypal send IPN to that address?

Log into your PayPal® account and navigate to this section:
Account Profile -> Instant Payment Notification Preferences

Edit your IPN settings & turn IPN Notifications: On

You'll then need to supply Paypal your IPN URL which is generally something like

http://www.gapzip.com/?s2member_paypal_notify=1

YOU CAN FIND THIS IN THE MENU I MENTION ABOVE.

Paypal need the correct IPN URL in order to communicate with your site and tell S2Member when new sign-ups, modifications etc occur.

It's vitally important you give them the correct address.

Hope that helps!

Ross :)

Hello, I am having the same issue, I received the email above except the link in question is: http://mywebsite.com/?s2member_paypal_notify=1

I checked my s2member admin and paypal account and the above link matches. I am using Pay Pal Pro and I see it says something on the s2member admin in regards to PAYPAL Pro, but I do not understand what I have to do.

May I have some guidance on how to resolve this issue.

Thank you.

Hey Deyson,

I don't use Paypal Pro, but I'd expect the IPN address to be the same as when using the regular version.

I know you've replaced the URL above with mywebsite.com, but the actual URL does have the www. in it doesn't it?

Make sure you are using the absolute URL, ie. http://www.mywebsite.com/?s2member_paypal_notify=1

In my S2member admin it had no www. In paypal it did not have www. I just added www. to the Paypal Admin since in s2member does not allow me to change it.

hmm... if it's not in your S2 options with the www. perhaps it shouldn't be there. It is in my case, but I guess it's how your domain is set up.

You want the 2 URL's to match exactly.

Could be one for Cristian or Jason this one.

If your URL's match exactly in Paypal and in your dashboard, it should work.

Have you tried creating a subscription and then cancelling it, to see if there is communication through the IPN?

I have not had a problem until yesterday, I wonder if my site was down since the HTML error was 403?

Hello, I read that article when I first set up S2member, I made sure to set everything up without www.

That's possible. If you've been fine all this time and, without having changed anything, now it gave you that error, it's probably something other than your settings. Let us know if the problem continues.

I think I figured it out. I added a firewall to my .htaccess.
http://perishablepress.com/5g-blacklist-2012/

Please let me know if I should keep this firewall or delete it, or maybe adjust it so it works with S2member and PayPal. Let me know.

Update: It seems I used the beta version instead on my website:
http://perishablepress.com/5g-firewall-beta/ and not the one above.

Please let me know if should be using either one?

Well, if you can adjust it so it will let s2Member and PayPal work properly, it seems a good thing to have! But if it will keep preventing transactions from happening and it's not possible to fix that, you'd need to remove it. :|

I was wondering if maybe Jason could look at it, or another supreme coder. It looks like a very good idea to have it just needs to be tweaked. Also I was using the Beta Version, I wonder if the stable version works with paypal and s2member. I just do not want to test it and it not work. :)

I could show it to Jason, although he's quite busy right now. Could you first ask the developer of that other plugin to help you? He'll certainly be more familiar with his plugin than someone else. Let me know how it goes! :)
