Doesn't seem to word with Maintenance Mode plugin

Postby jlcarneiro » July 29th, 2010, 7:38 pm

I've been using Quick Cache for some weeks now and it works very fine, thanks!

But, today I installed Maintenance Mode plugin and the maintenance mode page doesn't show while Quick Cache is enabled.

How do I correct this?

Hi there. Thanks for reporting this.

Unfortunately, detecting these maintenance mode plugins is a difficult task. We made some additional progress in the most recent update for Quick Cache, and you can look for some additional improvements in the next release.

Until then, the solution is to clear your cache after activating a maintenance mode plugin, no matter which one it is. Just click the "Clear Cache Manually" button on the Quick Cache options page. After you de-activate maintenance mode, please do the same thing again.

In other words, reset the entire cache, before, and after.

Thanks for your quick answer. But I've tried this workaround to no avail... :-(

I hope next version solve my problem. I'm certainly anxious for it. :-)

Thanks for reporting back. So that is interesting.... Have you tried "WP Maintenance Mode"?
~ That's the one that we use.

No, I've found their options page too confusing. For now, I've changed my approach:

What do you think about using this approach on your plugin? I mean, let Wordpress handle maintenance mode. This way, your plugin would deal with:
1. templates;
2. field substitution (as [until] field);
3. automatic exiting of maintenance mode, based on the time informed (this is a suggestion).

Thanks again for the great suggestions.
~ With Quick Cache, I think the approach we're going to take is one that will make Quick Cache better able to detect Maintenance Mode plugins. In the last version, we added support for both "Maintenance Mode", and "WP Maintenance Mode" detection, but it appears there are still some issues that need to be addressed; based on your bug report. We'll be taking a look at those in a future release.

Also, I'll take your suggestions into consideration, as I have Elizabeth working on the development of a new Maintenance plugin that will be released from PriMoThemes at some point in the near future. We plan to release a very simple/stripped down alternative to these popular plugins.
