REgistration not possible

Postby phils » May 5th, 2010, 6:25 pm

hi there not sure why but i can't get the registration page to work....

whenever i activate "registration allowed" in "wp>settings" i get the note "* Note: The s2Member plugin has control over two options on this page. Anyone Can Register = 0, and Default Role = subscriber."

So ho do i get the user registration to work?

thanks,
PHIL

As far as I know Phil, you don't need to activate the 'allow anyone to register' button.

merely place the paypal sign up buttons on the page you want registration to take place on and S2member will do the rest.

If you choose to restrict access to certain pages too then the plugin will redirect to the page you choose to display the sign up buttons on.
It's all configurable.

I'm just setting this up myself so I could be wrong, but I don't have the 'allow anyone to sign up' option checked.

Cheers
Ross :)

Ross is correct. s2Member handles all of this for you. That message "s2Member has control..." is displayed purposely by the s2Member plugin. We added that in there to help avoid confusion with this native option in WordPress.

The "Anyone Can Register" option is controlled by s2Member, and can be modified by changing the Allow Free Subscribers option under s2Member -> General Options -> Login Welcome Page -> Allow Free Subscribers. There are some additional details there, along with a link to the registration form.

If you set "Allow Free Subscribers" to (on), the registration form will be open to the public, and the default Role is always Subscriber. When a paid member registers after checkout, s2Member recognizes this automatically, and assigns one of the s2Member Roles, based on which Level of Membership was purchased.
