Import members from CSV

Postby beckyddesign » January 21st, 2012, 1:11 am

I've got a 2800 member list that has a lot of custom fields like 'address' and 'company'. I've been all over this forum and it looks like getting custom fields to import properly is an issue that has been around a while, but I don't see a clear answer.

If my custom field ID is 'country' and I put that in a column, the data does not import. How do I get this to happen properly? Need to know ASAP. Thanks

For the custom fields, in your CSV spreadsheet you'd have a column with the custom field ID, then next column with the values for that field, repeat for new fields.

I hope that helps. :)

OK - but this still makes it impossible to import if half (built in fields) of the data is in columns

USER
fred
wilma

and the custom fields are done in rows
CHILDREN pebbles
CHILDREN bam bam

Given this scenario - there is no way to import fred as a user and know who his children are.
